Hexennacht Collection Sale!

For some time, I have been wanting to do a collection at the opposite side of Halloween (woot Halloween!) and this year, the timing seemed right. You see, Walpurgisnacht (Walpurgis Night), which is also known as Hexennacht (Witches’ Night), is six months across the calendar from Halloween. In Europe, it is celebrated as a late Spring/early Summer festival heralding the coming of summer with bonfires and parties. It also celebrates Saint Walpurga. At the same time, its folklore also is tied to being a night of witchy merrymaking and given my inclination to witchyness, I decided to embrace this side of the holiday. Not to knock Saint Walpurga or anything, but I’d just rather raise up this side of womanhood and celebrate it because it has been considered a bane for so long. In fact, given the current state of the US (heck, the world even), I think embracing our witchyness to be a form of smashing the patriarchy, if you will. We all know how unkind history has been to women who have been disobedient to the ways of men or who instilled fear in men. And all of this still holds true today in so many ways.

For me, witchcraft can be a way to find one’s self because it does not rely on the words of old men telling you what to do or else x, y or z is going to happen to you. You are able to discover yourself on your own terms, opening up your senses to the world around you and listening with your whole body. I see witchcraft as a means to freedom from patriarchal oppression. And what is so wonderful about witchcraft is there are so many different interpretations. There is no “my way or the highway.” The path is fluid and flexible.  I know there are others who see witchcraft differently, but I just wanted to share with you a few of my thoughts on the matter and to give insight to the foundation behind my creating this collection.

Each perfume’s name is almost like a snippet from a poem. These are fragments of images or ideas that have come to me and I write them down, then creating a scent that I think brings that fragment to liquid form.

There are 13 perfumes, of course. Thirteen cycles of the moon. Thirteen cycles of the woman’s menstruation cycle. And then I accidentally made two extra, so those are bonus gift perfumes. I mean, I couldn’t just let them sit on the shelf, could I?

These perfumes are sold in 5ml Austrian amber glass bottles and contain 6-7mls of perfume. Petite sized bottles are available and contain 2mls.

This collection will be leaving June 30th or as supplies sell out.

The Petite sizes have sold out. Thank you.
