Carry Alls & Accessories

I know, aren’t they awesome? You can use them as your daily purse or as a knitting bag (I know you knitters can fill this with yarn in no time! In fact, knitters, you just better get two of these to be on the safe side) or as a yoga bag or a bag for a quick run to the co-op or farmer’s market. These generously sized backs also have generous pocket space inside (number of pockets vary from bag to bag). Each bag made is pretty much one of a kind (although I have a sneaking suspicion that I might be asked to make another pink Art Nouveau bat bag) and  are made with at least three layers of fabric for solidity (outer, inner lining and strength lining). The leather handles are sourced from some of the finest, softest Italian hides. You may wish to consider treating light colored fabrics with an anti-stain spray if you are going to use your Carry All ALL TEH TIMEZ. Prices vary due to cost of materials used. I’d LOVE to make you something custom if you desire. You know I have a stash of fabulously cool fabrics, right? Send me an email if you want a custom order or if something you see here has sold and you’d like something similar. I’ll see what I can do. Some bags cannot be reproduced.

Cross My Heart Carry All

I had Saint Valentine on the brain, as you can tell with this bag. Gorgeous, silghtly mottled, ultra soft ruby Italian leather makes the body and shoulder straps for this one and digging through my lace stash I found some incredibly beautiful heavy ivory lace. I can't remember the kind of lace that this is. Cluny, perhaps? Not Alencon. Battenburg? Venetian? I can't remember! I think it is English, but I don't remember for sure. Either way, it is really beautiful and I'm glad I found a use for it! Over the lace, also criss-crossed, is ruby velvet ribbon and ruby satin bow ribbon. The lining, in keeping with the semi-Valentine feel, is an out of print cotton of vintage-themed children dressed as little Pierrots. There are six generous pockets inside and a snap closure.

The bag measures approximately 21” x 11” and the straps measure approximately 27”.

(A word of caution regarding the lace: Although this lace is fairly substantial, it does have wee little threads that may appear loose. Do not pull them! If you see one that seems a little undone, just snip it close to the base.)

I have been hoarding this fabric for some time now. It is a scrapbook style printed cotton with turn of the century French advertisements for bakeries, florists, and other dainty shops. The outer fabric colors are soft ivory for the background and charming pink for the print. The lining also comes from my personal stash and is a pink with gold print Gustav Klimt-inspired print and has six large pockets. To add a little something extra to the bag, there are two *removable* handmade bows. The bows can be place where ever you'd like or even keep one of the bag and one on the lapel of your jacket! The handles are made with buttery soft Italian leather.

The bag measures approximately 21” x 11” and the straps measure 27”.

Not having sat at my sewing machine for ages, I have been just craving to make something beautiful! This is the result.... A carry-all made from some leather that I have been hoarding for several years. Let me first tell you about the leather. The body of the bag is made from a peacock teal leather that has a purple iridescent sheen over it. It is insane! Very hard to photograph, so trust me that when you see it in person, you are going to just drool! (The first picture is the best representation of the color.) The texture is an antiqued, partially crackle finish and is super soft. The handles are a warm plum, also antiqued, but with a marbled and glossier finish. Both leathers are Italian lambskin. As for the trims!  There is hand-pleated plum moire German ribbon with dainty little teal velvet ribbon from Japan that makes the X's. The center is composed of three layers. The bottom layer is the crazy neat teal ribbon (if you can call it that) that looks like something from the ocean. It comes from my all-time favorite fabric store that closed a few years ago. (How could she retire?! How could she?!?!?!?) Over the teal meshy one, is a two tone plum French satin ribbon with a ruffled lettuce edge and over this one, is a trim made of teal organza flowers, embroidered leaves and stems and little beads for the flower's staemen. That trim also comes from my favorite, now closed fabric store. Both side of the bag are mirror images. The lining of the bag is made of a marbled, hand-dyded plum cotton and has six roomy pockets. This bag is totally one of a kind and is made with gorgeous, very high quality materials. I can not make another one like this. In part, because some of the leather and trims I simply can't get again!

Like my other carry-alls the body of this bag is roomy, has an inner snap closure and measures approximately 21” x 11” and the straps measure approximately 27”.

I've been dying to make a bag in this fabulous colorway! I love green and fuschia pink! This carry all has a scrapbook layout of vintage gardening adds, seed packets, and botanical images. It's for the gardeners out there who are still girly and feminine and not grungy! You know who you are! I gathered up the fabric and added a fabulous broad striped satin ribbon with a ombre pink ribbon gathered on top of it and finished with the daintiest little ribbon boasting wee blossoms and leaves. The ribbons are featured on both sides of the bag. The lining is a matching pink with ombre stripes and has six roomy pockets and a magnetic snap closure. You will catch the eyes of everyone at the Farmer's Market!

The bag measures approximately 21” x 11” and the straps measure approximately 27”.

The Antiqued Bride Carry All

While I don't think this is strictly a bridal bag by any means, when I was creating it, the image of a Victorian lady in the old west, among tumbleweeds and dust came to mind. But this bag is also ultra antiquey, Rasputina-y, boho, too. I think it just depends on your own style really. You make this bag work for you as you want! So, first let me tell you this leather is so crazy cool. I've had it for a while wondering just what to do with it because it was a one of a kind piece. It is a crackle-finish ivory that looks like eggshells. I only had one piece and, as you can see, had to be creative because I didn't have enough for the shoulder straps, but that is ok because from the beginning I intended to do an ivory and plum color scheme. I pilfered my lace stash to find three pieces of beaded and embroidered lace that I fanned out on the front of the bag. Also on the bag are some hand pleated German moire ribbon and French plisse ribbon. There is silk hand dyded ribbon in shades of plum and silver plus dainty little bow ribbon! I added a larger piece of the plum and silver hand dyded silk ribbon for an accent bow, but that is entirely removable, if you want to take it off. The shoulder straps are plum suede and a little shorter than usual because I only had a small piece of leather to work from. The lining is some winderful dreamy soft purple hand dyed cotton and there are 6 generous pockets. This bag does not have a snap closure. I finished the bag only to realize I had left that out! Oops!

The bag measures approximately 21” x 11” and the straps measure 22”.

(A little word of caution: The beads on these pieces are a little loose in some places. I did my best to solidify them, but if you lose some along the way, don't be upset. It adds character anyways!)
